Renewed Commitment to Photoblogging

Those of you who know me know that all this started with my photoblog. The idea was simple… carry a camera where ever I go and take pictures. Then blog some of them. Along came more business and things slowed down on the photoblog. Along came Willem and things all but stopped on the photoblog :)

Well it has been long enough and I have decided to recommit to more regular posts on there again. I am shooting for at least 1 a week and hopefully more! May include stuff from my iPhone and other lower res photos but I am committed nonetheless. Google Reader and New Site Feature

Over my Christmas vacation, my brother in law Alex introduced and consequently sold me on Google Reader for all my RSS needs. For those of you who don’t know what RSS is check it out on Wikipedia and then go get your Google Reader setup to handle all the RSS feeds you will undoubtedly start monitoring.

As many of you know I am a serious blog stalker. I monitor about 70 blogs daily. Doing that all in a browser was tedious so I started using RSS and never went back. I used to frequently email people about stuff I had seen or wanted to share. Also tedious. So with Google Reader you can setup a cool little thing to go on your blog or website with all your shared stories as links in it. You will now find all the stuff I choose to share in a little box on the right hand sidebar of this blog entitled “around the web”. Some may interest you some may not.

Contact Form Malfunction

Oh man… I just realized yesterday that my contact form was malfunctioning and that I have not been getting anything submitted through it. I have no idea how long this has been going on either. If you have been trying or tried to get a hold of me via the contact form on this site, PLEASE try it again now.

I sincerely apologize for this and I really want to hear from you!

Thanks to recent inquiries you can now get my RSS feeds that I WAS keeping hidden. The links are on the right hand side of this page. I have included feeds for both this blog and the photoblog. Now I suppose you will want me to update this blog more often! Hope this helps some of you stay up to date :)

Cool Photoblogs

I was doing a bit of photoblog surfing the other night and I came across this site which is an alternative to photoblogs.org. It is called CoolPhotoblogs. Anyway what does is offer photobloggers a place to promote their site and work. Not sure how many photoblogs are on the list but it is sure to grow.

So that being said, I am trying to promote my site to get better search engine results and ultimately make photography my career so feel free to go over to my profile on Coolphotoblogs.com and mark it as “cool” :)

I get asked about the stats on this site periodically and since I have not posted them in a while here are some current stats for the last 30 days:

Average daily unique visitors: 217
Highest number of unique visitors in a day: 822
Average daily page loads (hits): 741
Highest number of page loads (hits) in a day: 2,813
Total unique visitors in the last 30 days: 6,730
Total page loads (hits) in the last 30 days: 22,981

I was talking with John Wilson from the Chattanoogan.com and he had a day last week when he got over 80,000 unique visitors IN ONE DAY! Maybe some day!

I have never posted photos here to win any awards or the ego boast that I get when you tell me that you like what I am doing. BUT I will say that the more people that come to this site, the more paid photo work I am getting. So this here comes the plea… If you like the photos you see here and are a regular visitor, go to the 2006 Photobloggies site and nominate me for whatever categories you see fit. Fun with Spammers

I always find it funny the way spammers try to get around the spam protection on email and now blog comments. This is one that was worded to sound like the person was a real visitor but it had several links to “get cheap drugs” type of sites. It was funny so I am pasting in the comment here:

I got nailed with comment spam tonight. 68 of them! Grrrrrr… at least WordPress caught them all and asked me to moderate them. UPDATE: Make that 79!
