16Nov06A Friendly Reminder from My Wife!

I was reminded by a friend of the importance of saving and backing up your work. Here is what I mean… I was sitting at my work computer and all the sudden my PC laptop was shutting down without me doing anything to prompt it. I say to my friend Rich on IM “hmm I must have gotten a Windows update cause my computer is shutting down.” He replies that he has lost work on multiple occasions due to Windows restarting after an update. I then looked over to a note my wife lovingly wrote to me a few years ago and placed on my desk. You see I used to have a problem with my work Mac freezing and losing hours and hours of Photoshop work or a web template that I had been working for a long time. So here is the reminder.

12Nov06March of Dimes Gourmet Gala

I shot for Chattanooga Style Magazine on Saturday night. It was for the March of Dimes Gourmet Gala. They were showcasing the plays that will be in Chattanooga this weekend by having booths of sorts with actors playing the parts. It was interesting because they would all be chatting and goofing around for a few seconds and then they would strike a pose. You can see two of them below in the images. The others are just a few candids from the night.

These are a few more images from our model shoot with Jessica Messer at the Open Source Photography get together. They were taken in and near Miller Park in downtown Chattanooga.

12Nov06LaCour at OSP South

On Tuesday, I had the privilege of hearing the LaCour photographers speak about wedding photojournalism and their distinctly journalistic approach to it. The idea is to use images to not only tell the story but to truly illustrate the story of your client’s wedding. To accomplish this they use images as words of a sentence and as Andrew says sentences can exist with only nouns and verbs but ADJECTIVES are make make it interesting.

Noun images tell us who and what was at the wedding. Verb images tell us what they were doing. The adjective images however do the subtle job of describing the day. Very interesting way of approaching photography I must say. Here are a few images from their talk.

1Nov06Rachel and Mathis October 2006

Here they are again… Rachel and Mathis! We were planning on a fun play session in the fall leaves but instead we got rained on. So we moved indoors to the indoor playground at the Hamilton Place Mall.
