30Aug05Perhaps my favorite

I have a ton of sites that I check out everyday for various things but mostly for the photography. 90% or more are daily photoblogs like mine but there are a few that stand out everyday and a few that have abolutely brilliant moments. This is one of those absolutely brilliant moments captured nearly flawlessly by Martin Kenny at Seen Objects.

I can’t get enough of that boy in his Spider-Man suit. I hope his spirit never gets squashed!

28Aug05Not as fun as it used to be.

Erin and I bought a string trimmer today from Lowes. After some research on Consumer Reports online, we decided to get the Troy-Bilt TB70SS. It has multiple “optional” attachments like a blower, hedge trimmer, and edger.

The thing about trimming is that it always looked so fun when I was a kid watching my Grandpa trim around the bushes and house. As a matter of fact I did think it was fun when I was a kid and got to do it for a few minutes. But now that it is my responsibility as a homeowner, it just isn’t as much fun anymore. I mowed the yard trimmed around the whole thing.

On a related note, I still have not completely mowed the front hill in our yard. I thought the timmer would make it possible but I still cant reach the whole thing. As I was struggling away at it the nice elderly lady from across the road came over and asked me if I wanted to know how to cut the hill? I said sure. She told me almost amused with herself and her secret knowledge, “You need to tie a rope on the mower and lower it down…” I had suspected this was the way I needed to do it but had not tried it yet. Guess I am going to need to buy a rope at Lowes next time I am there :)

11Aug05Ever Seen This Before?

Have you ever seen anything like this before?

These two birds were out on the porch last night in different corners of the porch and now tonight when I came home they were sitting in the same corner right nextg to each other. I am assuming that they are sitting there all night but isnt this odd? Click on the image to see it larger.
